Philosophy

I view landscape architecture as a process of creating beautiful spaces which reflect and respond to the contextual environment. My approach is to facilitate the relationship between the site and the client’s vision. Starting with a reverence for the land itself, I value understanding the unique properties of the site, which then influences the design. An adaptive sense of humility extends to my relationships with clients. I see my job as both a collaboration and a process, combining my personal aesthetic and expertise with the client’s wishes.

Sustainability has been at the core of my work since I entered the field decades before the green revolution. Over my thirty years of professional experience, I have come to appreciate how gardens impact the lives of their users. While always expressing the inevitability of change, the garden reveals to us timeless constants. The garden reconnects us to nature and to each other.
